Skipper Condon - every committee meeting was held at Skipper’s Triangle Char and Bar in West Ashley. He always provided complimentary appetizers and never once told us to quiet down and stop disturbing his clientele. Obviously, we enjoyed getting together. In addition, he provided at cost, the beer and wine for Friday night and the open bar and hors d’oeuvres on Saturday night. Thank you, Skipper, for your energy and generosity.
Caroline (McManus) Young - thanks for providing the McManus beach house for our gathering on Friday night. Caroline and her husband, Bruce, worked hard to ensure we all had a spectacular evening. They ordered the perfect weather and fantastic sunset. When the set up team of committee members arrived on Friday morning, Caroline had organized the whole process. The team simply had to grab a sticky with instructions for this or that and in record time tables, lights, decorations, propane heaters, and the bar was set up and ready for the class to arrive. Many thanks, Caroline!
Blanche (Vaught) Lloyd - Blanche provided the laughter. Her unstoppable, upbeat personality kept us laughing from the first planning meeting to her presentation Saturday night which was awesome. Thank you, Blanche, for the jokes, the smiles, and most importantly for helping all of us to see things through your delightful and whacky perspective. But, that’s not all, she also secured our contract with the BBQ caterer. Thanks for your hard work, Blanche.
Jimmy Lloyd - thanks, Jimmy, for doing everything Blanche asked you to do. Nah, just kidding. Appreciate so much the hard work setting up and cleaning up each night. And truly doing so much of the behind the scenes work (aka, what Blanche asked you to do, like the table of BE memorabilia). ;0) My husband appreciates and commiserates with you. Many, many thanks.
Marie (Coates) Edgerton - Marie worked so hard finding our venue for Saturday night having to coordinate availability with Caroline’s beach house and after many phone calls and a lot of attention to detail she was able to secure Goldbug Island. In addition, she and Caroline put together the memorial tribute for our deceased class members. After all the hard work and all the effort, Marie was sick the weekend of the reunion and missed the whole thing. Sometimes life is just not fair. We owe you, Marie. Many thanks!
George Garmendia - thanks so much to George for keeping track of our funds and paying the bills. If you don’t know, George is a CPA so we are blessed to have someone with the perfect talent for the job. Thanks a million, George.
Susan (Lowry) Bynum - thanks to Susan for many decorations, for the 50th reunion sign, for the grammar school signs for pictures, for getting free lanyards for name tags, and for bringing the hush puppies on Friday night. Thanks so much for always offering to help with everything.
Kathy (Comar) Bustos - thanks Kathy for securing the golf carts for Friday night and for lending us Jody as a driver.
JoAnn (Borglund) Frick - JoAnn, I think everyone was blown away by the beautiful table arrangements you provided. Yet another example of the talent we have in our class. Your designs were so artistic and beautiful. You said we deserved a classier look and you provided it. A classy look from a classy lady. Thanks, JoAnn!
Marsha (Burmester) Burchfield - thanks Marsha for helping prepare the name tags. Your paper cutter was a lifesaver. Thanks for stuffing all those annoying plastic holders. Thanks for lending us Dave for a lot of the hard work setting up and cleaning up.
Michael Molony - thanks to Michael for arranging our mass with Father McInerny and securing the parking lot at Stella Maris for Friday night. We are all so happy that you are doing so well after that scary accident. Thanks, Michael.
Trisha (Sullivan) Gustafson and Mary Ellen (Eiserhardt) Lenhardt - thanks for doing the grocery and Costco shopping for Friday night. You both are just as much fun as you were back at BE.
Richard Kerr - thanks Richard for donating the stadium cups. Everyone enjoyed taking home a nice reunion souvenir. I love that the date on the cups is our original reunion date. Now, we will never forget the hurricane that forced us into February. What a blessing to meet at the beach with comfortable temperatures and no bugs. Thank you Hurricane Florence!
Thanks to Berta (McWilliams) Fisher, Patty (Maginn) Dhooge, and Ginny (Taylor) Phillips for providing many names and email information when we were trying to locate classmates and for your eagerness to jump in whenever needed.
A special thanks to two non-committee members. First, Chris Gover, who came to the reunion and volunteered to be the official photographer. Or maybe he was volunteered. Thanks so much, Chris. Didn’t mean to put you to work. And second, thanks to Tina (Fultz) Rickenback who led us in the Alma Mater when after mass Father McInerny asked us to sing it. Everyone started to mumble sing a word or two when from the back of the church came a booming voice from a tiny person who new the tune and every word. Wow! Thanks, Tina.
Well, the “thank you’s” above are just for the big stuff. Every committee member contributed in multiple ways. It really was a team effort.
